The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, which was presented last week, provided that each minister will continue to deal with urgent matters.

The prime minister submitted the resignation of his government to the Emir of the country last Wednesday, one day after his cabinet members submitted their resignations.

The resignation came in light of the blocked horizon of the relationship between the government and the National Assembly, following an interrogation directed by 3 members of Parliament to the Prime Minister, and 38 out of 50 MPs declared their support for him, which means there is sufficient cover to overthrow the Prime Minister.

The director of the Al-Jazeera office in Kuwait, Saad Al-Saeedi, said that after its resignation today, this government will be the second shortest-lived government in the history of Kuwait.
