Why not vaccinate children against covid-19?

- We have not tested this enough among children right now.

But there is an enormous amount of research going on about the virus and vaccines, so that may change.

But right now the recommendation is that it is adults who should be vaccinated.

At the moment, children are not recommended to be vaccinated, he says.

When asked if it may be relevant for children to be vaccinated against covid-19 in the future, he answers:

- I think there will be studies that show that this is a safe vaccine for children as well.

But we do not know, we must study it before we can recommend that all children take this, says Tobias Alfvén.

Some children have been shown to get really sick from covid, how worried should you be as a parent?

- We did a study in Stockholm at the first wave.

It showed that of all those admitted to hospitals in Stockholm, 0.7 per cent were children.

Then we count from birth to 18 years of age.

So there are very few who have been admitted to hospital who have been children, says Tobias Alfvén.
