Two days ago, producer Walid Mansour published a set of posters (posters) for the movie "The People of the Cave", which began filming recently, to be shown in the summer of 2021. The audience was very excited after seeing these photos, as the work is a collective tournament for prominent names of actors whom the audience loves and trusts in their choices. .
Among them are Mahmoud Hamida, Khaled al-Nabawi, Muhammad Farraj and Muhammad Mamdouh. They are joined by Ghada Adel, Ahmed Eid, Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, Sabri Fawaz, Ahmed Fouad Salim, Amr Abdel Jalil and others.

The movie "People of the Cave" is based on a play with the same name written by the late writer Tawfiq Al-Hakim. The play was released in 1933 and met with great success until it was published in two editions and was translated into English, French and Italian languages, before presenting a play directed by Zaki Tulaimat in 1935.
Unfortunately, however, it was destined to fail in a surprise that shocked its makers, which was justified by Tawfiq al-Hakim at the time by the fact that the play was more of a philosophical and intellectual work than a work suitable for embodiment, so has the times changed and the nature of the audience has changed, so it is suitable for showing now?

The film will be directed by director Amr Arafa, who has been with this dream for years, but was postponed more than once due to the producers ’fear of it because of its high cost, whether for the decorations that it requires or because it will need to be filmed in a large number of foreign countries and some Arab countries, including Morocco.
After producer Walid Mansour decided to go through with the experiment, work was carried out in full swing to bring the film to light, and the makers hope that it will be ready for screening next May.
It is worth noting that the film's story was written by scriptwriter and poet Ayman Bahjat Qamar, who created a contemporary treatment for the play, while the soundtrack was composed by Hisham Nazih, and the decor was by Samer El-Gammal.
Waiting for the saga
The film is expected to be epic, as the events of the original play that it was quoted revolve around 3 people who sleep for a period of more than three centuries, before they return to life again.
This makes them in a sharp conflict not only with time, but even with those around them, which consequently results in their tremendous feeling of loneliness and alienation, so are they able to overcome it or deal with it?

Between enthusiasm and anticipation, this was the case for the pioneers of social media platforms, as soon as the news spread about the start of filming, the audience was very excited, which was evident in the posts.
Some did this because of their previous knowledge of the content of the play and the power of its author's works, while others were happy to know the strength of the artistic talent of its heroes, or the return of their favorite stars after an absence, as happened with the artist Ahmed Eid.
Although this did not prevent some from feeling indignant, convinced that the story is nothing but a religious transgression, thinking that the people of the cave are intended here who were mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and this is what director Amr Arafa commented on, confirming Al-Azhar’s approval and permission for treatment and text.

Collegiate championship is back
It is noteworthy that the last collaboration between producer Walid Mansour and author Ayman Bahjat Amar was through the comedy film "The Suit" by the star Tamer Hosni and Akram Hosni, which was released in 2018, to achieve record profits at that time topping the list of the highest income films in the Egyptian cinema, as its revenues exceeded 67 million pounds ( A dollar equals 16 pounds), which increased the enthusiasm of its makers to offer a second part soon.
This would raise the ceiling of expectations towards "the people of the cave" and place it in an inevitable comparison with the revenues and popularity of Tamer Hosni's film.
