Five places were searched simultaneously on Monday morning around 6 a.m. by the police and the gendarmerie in Ille-et-Vilaine.

These joint operations were carried out within the framework of an investigation carried out by the research section of the gendarmerie and the departmental security (police) for acts of theft committed in the department.

Two camps for Travelers were targeted in Rennes and Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande.

Searches took place in Bruz, Montgermont and Cesson-Sévigné.

For this operation, nearly 150 members of the security forces were mobilized.

The Nantes RAID and GIGN have been deployed, with the support of a helicopter and a dog team.

According to the public prosecutor Philippe Astruc, these operations led to the arrest of six people.

Four are suspected of theft and two of concealment.

Thefts have mainly been committed in businesses and shops since July.

A total of 24 burglaries were allegedly committed for damage estimated at 700,000 euros.

The brands of garden equipment, tools and household appliances were particularly targeted.

Seven vehicles were also stolen.

According to investigators, the vehicles acted as a "ram car" and were used to transport stolen goods.
