Stuttgart (dpa) - In the dispute over cheap prices for food, farmers president Joachim Rukwied does not want to rule out further protests and blockade actions in front of supermarkets.

"I fully understand the displeasure and anger of my professional colleagues," said Rukwied of the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Monday).

«In this respect, I don't want to rule out the possibility of further actions.

I urgently appeal to retailers to come to a real coexistence in the food chain. "

Rukwied is both President of the Baden-Württemberg State Farmers Association and the German Farmers Association.

In the past few weeks there had been repeated demonstrations by farmers in front of the camps of individual trading groups. Farmers thus vented their displeasure with low producer prices in Germany. Trading groups and farmers' association have now started talks about a so-called Germany bonus for local food. It is intended to offset the higher production costs of German farmers. The dispute over cheap prices for food is also coming to the fore this week at the digital agricultural trade fair Green Week.
