Grafenwoehr (dpa / lby) - Because of scratching noises from a package, the driver of a parcel service asked police officers in Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate to check.
As the police announced on Monday, the woman suspected animals in the box - although the package was not declared as an animal transport and her parcel service does not transport animals.
The delivery woman and the officials then drove to the addressee, a eatery in Grafenwoehr.
There were 70 crabs in the package, as the host offers them on his menu.
The veterinary office is now clarifying whether the transport complies with animal welfare.
