Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The chairmen of six district associations of Free Voters in Saxony-Anhalt want to challenge the state list for the state elections that was drawn up on Saturday at a party conference in Stendal.

They also demand the resignation of the state executive.

He acted irresponsibly in the preparation and implementation of the list party conference, according to a joint statement by the six district chairmen on Monday.

They describe the party congress as "undemocratic" and criticized, among other things, that only 83 members with voting rights were there, which corresponds to a share of 30 percent of all members in Saxony-Anhalt.

They also criticized the choice of location on the northern border of Saxony-Anhalt.

From the outset, the state executive had the goal of “excluding the southern district associations”.

The communication also speaks of a “conscious health risk” of the members participating in the list party conference.

At the party conference on Saturday, the state chairwoman Andrea Menke was elected to first place.

The 51-year-old is an entrepreneur from Halle.

The mayor of Osterburg, Nico Schulz (47) came in second.

He will be followed by regional vice-president Andreas Strehlow (48), a project development consultant from the Börde district.

Because of the Corona lockdown, the Free Voters had already postponed their party conference in December from January 9th to January 16th.

The regional association had found another postponement in view of an impending renewed lockdown extension to be inappropriate.

The signatories of the communication include the district chairmen Thomas Schorsch (Saalekreis), Volker Laabs (Dessau-Roßlau), Jens Diederichs (Mansfeld-Südharz), Günther Weisse (Burgenlandkreis), Jost Riecke (Magdeburg) and Dieter Kühn (Harz).
