Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The association of school principals in the state has accused the Ministry of Education of leaving schools in the lurch in questions of online teaching in the corona lockdown.

School principals and teachers across the country asked themselves: "Why does every school have to find its own ways and possibilities to design digital online lessons?"

In addition, one does not understand why it is impossible to provide a “well-functioning educational platform for all schools”, the association's board announced on Monday.

In summary, the school principals ask: "Why is the country leaving schools alone to face this great challenge?"

The association also defends itself against the impression in public that school administrators and teachers are unable to give online lessons.

"Most schools are now getting along very well with digital media and have already done a lot on their own," says the message.

The problem is rather the technical framework and the lack of assistance.

Nothing happens without personal initiative, because «almost no professional support» can be expected from the religious administration.

Teachers often held video conferences using specially purchased and privately financed laptops.

They train themselves further and are in contact with colleagues.

"On the other hand, offers in teacher training are scarce."

The school administrators find “cumbersome bureaucratic hurdles” particularly annoying, which made it almost hopeless to equip schools with a fiber optic connection.

The maintenance of the computers and the digital infrastructure is problematic.

Here too the schools are "very often left alone".

It was also foreseeable that the servers for the Moodle learning platform would be overloaded.

"It is all the more annoying that those responsible in the religious administration have failed to take the necessary precautions in the past few months to prevent such mishaps from occurring."
