General of the Russian Air Force died of new crown pneumonia and participated in the rescue of Chernobyl accident

  According to Russian media reports on January 17, Russian State Duma member and Air Force Admiral Nikolai Antoshkin died on the same day of new crown pneumonia at the age of 79.

  In 1986, Antoshkin, then chief of staff of the Kiev Military Region Air Force, took part in directing the rescue work of the Chernobyl accident and personally organized and completed the reconnaissance mission across the reactor.

He thus won the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union".
