Oberhof (dpa) - Biathlete Franziska Preuß narrowly missed the second victory of her career at the end of the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof.
The 26-year-old from Bavaria came second after two shooting errors and was only 3.9 seconds behind winner Julia Simon from France in the mass start.
Third place over 12.5 kilometers went to Olympic champion Hanna Öberg from Sweden.
Just the day before, Preuss had led the German women's relay to their first success in almost two years with a sovereign appearance on the Rennsteig.
Preuss celebrated her only individual victory two years ago in the mass start in Ruhpolding.
The second best German on the 2023 World Cup routes was Denise Herrmann (4 errors) in 15th, Janina Hettich (2) in 18th and Maren Hammerschmidt (4) in 29th.
