Since the release of "La Familia grande", Camille Kouchner's story which evokes the problem of incest, the associations claim to be much more solicited by victims.

And on Twitter, hundreds of testimonials emerged on Saturday with the hashtag #MeTooInceste.

DECRYPTION

Ten days after its release in bookstores,

La Familia grande

has already caused a shock wave in political and media circles, but also frees the voice of incest victims.

While the book in which Camille Kouchner denounces the incestuous assaults that her father-in-law Olivier Duhamel would have imposed on his twin brother when he was a teenager at the end of the 1980s, is at the top of sales, associations thus note an increase in requests for assistance since the start of 2021.

When the affair broke, Marie, one of those victims, thought it was a sign.

"The case enlightens me at all levels. It overwhelmed me with questions," she confides to Europe 1. While she only discovered very recently that her brother had abused his daughter when she was smaller, today this mother is overcome by an ambivalent feeling.

"It does me a lot of good because I say to myself 'yes, we can talk, we have the right to do it'. And on the other hand, it raises questions for the consequences. Because here, in this Duhamel affair , his life is destroyed in the media. And so, I tell myself that in my small family sphere, I will destroy. "

"Not a day goes by without a request for help"

For many victims and relatives of victims, the case pushes them to take the plunge.

For ten days, the majority of associations are much more solicited, and calls are doubling, or even are sometimes multiplied by four or by five.

Vice-president of the association "Le Monde through un regard", Sonia Laffargue confirms this liberation of speech.

"It's true that since the Duhamel affair came out, not a day goes by without us having a request for help. There have been periods where we had no requests at all for two or three months ", she tells Europe 1. And concludes:" The fact of closing the mouth of such an individual, it allows those who are silent to express themselves. "

According to specialists, these victims are also reassured by the good reception of Camille Kouchner's book by public opinion.

And on Twitter, hundreds of testimonies emerged on Saturday with the hashtag #MeTooInceste, in the tradition of #MeToo, which allowed women victims of sexual assault and harassment to speak out.
