China News Service, January 17 reported that on the evening of the 15th local time, the US Congress police arrested a man at a security checkpoint who tried to pass the checkpoint with an unauthorized inauguration pass.
When the police subsequently searched his vehicle, they found an unregistered pistol and more than 500 bullets.
According to a statement filed in the District of Columbia Court on the 16th, the arrested man was Wesley A. Beeler, a Victorian resident who was arrested at a security checkpoint less than half a mile from the Capitol. .
He showed an "unauthorized inauguration pass."
Police officer Roger Dupont said he checked the documents against the list and found that the man’s documents did not allow him to enter the restricted area.
The police then searched the truck driven by the man and found a Glock pistol with more than 500 bullets in the truck.
He was charged with five crimes, including possession of weapons and ammunition in Washington without registration.
Documents submitted by the court and an incident report from the Municipal Police Department did not explain why the man tried to enter the restricted area, nor did they provide more details of the documents he presented.
