Hanover (dpa / lni) - Although the number of new corona infections in Lower Saxony remains high, the nationwide incidence value has fallen below 100.

It fell to 99.8 - the day before it was 102.7, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

The seven-day incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 people were infected with the virus within seven days.

There were 1250 new infections and thus a total of 128 662 cases in Lower Saxony.

Another eleven people died.

According to extrapolation, 105,730 of the reported laboratory-confirmed cases had recovered.

That corresponds to a share of 82.2 percent.

Among the districts of Lower Saxony, Peine had the highest seven-day incidence with 186.9, followed by the Gifhorn district (173.9) and the Helmstedt district (151.2).

The Gifhorn district in particular has recently been severely affected.
