Patrice Talon has thus confirmed being a candidate for his own succession to “
defend three things: democracy, our freedoms and good governance
”.
Elected in 2006, his term ends in less than three months and the presidential election is scheduled by the Autonomous Electoral Commission on April 11.
This ballot, for which it is required sponsorship of elected officials who could be sorely missed by any opponents, is scheduled for April 11.
In the absence of deputies and local elected representatives from its ranks, the opposition, in fact, denounces a lockdown which only allows President Patrice Talon to obtain said sponsorships.
What the Beninese fiercely defend is no longer just two things;
it is now three things: democracy, our freedoms and good governance.
For my part, I will continue to take action to strengthen good governance.
I will be a candidate because of this.
