St. Moritz (dpa) - Francesco Friedrich clinched his ninth win of the season in the two-man bobsleigh at the World Cup in St. Moritz.

The record world champion from BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg set the best start and run times on the natural ice rink in the Engadine with pusher Alexander Schüller (SV Halle) and referred Johannes Lochner, who could only conquer the double Olympic champion in Innsbruck / Igls, with a 0.45 second lead in second place.

The Berchtesgadener starting for Stuttgart drove with pusher Florian Bauer (BRC Ohlstadt).

The Thuringian duo Hans-Peter Hannighofer / Marcel Kornhardt came fourth behind Canadian Justin Kripps.

The only natural ice rink in the world is built every year at the end of November by a team of specialists from 10,000 cubic meters of snow and 5000 cubic meters of water over a length of 1722 meters in just three weeks.

Therefore there are no track records, only season best times.
