The road work on national road 40 between Borås and Bollebygd lasted for several days in September 2019. When the final pavement was laid on the night of 26 September 2019, something went wrong.

The pavement dropped from the road.

Drivers testified about completely destroyed tires and stone chips.

In total, the Swedish Transport Administration received over 170 individual claims after the road work on highway 40 between Borås and Bollebygd.

The authority has now decided around 130 cases.

Most have had their requests rejected.

Around 30 have received damages.

In total, the authority has paid just over SEK 150,000 in damages for the incident.

The timing is crucial

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the circumstances on the route have looked different at different times.

Those who have received compensation have driven on the stretch on the morning of 26 September.

- It was those who drove until 11 o'clock who received compensation.

After 11 we had another handling out where we managed to sweep away and fix and remove the problems that were on the road, Bengt Olsson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

In about 40 cases, the Swedish Transport Administration has not yet made a decision as the authority is waiting for additions.
