Erfurt (dpa / th) - The CDU parliamentary group leader in the Thuringian state parliament, Mario Voigt, has spoken positively about the election of Armin Laschet as CDU federal chairman.
On Saturday, Voigt congratulated the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia on his election.
Now it is important to bundle the forces of the CDU, wrote Voigt, the top candidate for the state elections in Thuringia.
The state chairman of the Thuringian CDU, Christian Hirte, had previously congratulated Laschet.
Laschet is to be the successor to Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, the new CDU boss.
The 59-year-old prevailed on Saturday at the digital CDU party convention in a runoff election against ex-Union parliamentary group leader Friedrich Merz.
The decision still has to be formally confirmed by postal vote.
On the other hand, the decision in favor of Laschet met with restrained reactions from other representatives of Thuringian politics.
«The CDU has not catapulted into the past with Merz, okay.
But with Laschet also not into the future, ”wrote the state and parliamentary group chairman of the Left in Thuringia, Susanne Hennig-Wellsow, on Twitter on Saturday.

The group leader of the Greens in the Thuringian state parliament, Astrid Rothe-Beinlich, expressed a similar opinion: “With Merz the demarcation would have become easier.

FDP parliamentary group leader Thomas Kemmerich congratulated Laschet and wrote on Twitter: "Let's see if and how the paper is implemented."
Kemmerich was referring to a package of proposals to relieve companies and reduce bureaucracy at the federal level, which Laschet had presented in October with his Minister for Economic Affairs, Andreas Pinkwart (FDP).
