The 2012 Olympic pole vault champion Renaud Lavillenie made a very good comeback on Saturday indoors in Bordeaux, winning the competition with a bar at 5.92 m.

After clearing 5.52m on his first attempt and then 5.72m on his second, the former world record holder (6.16m) needed two attempts to pass 5.82m then 5.92m and win clearly ahead of his brother Valentin (5.72 m).

He then asked for a bar at 6m, which he failed to clear.

The Frenchman has not reached this height since March 17, 2016.

Free of any physical worries at the start of the year, Renaud Lavillenie took the opportunity to achieve the level of performance required to participate in the European Indoor Championships (March 5-7 in Torun, Poland), just like Valentin Lavillenie.
