It was mid-November.

As part of his desire to fight against Islamist separtism, Emmanuel Macron asked the CFCM, the French Council of Muslim Worship to write a charter.

A text laying down the principles of an Islam in France.

Two months later, the CFCM announced this Saturday.

Equality between men and women is proclaimed, as well as "

the compatibility of the Muslim faith with the Republic or the rejection of certain customary practices allegedly Muslim

".

During these two months, the writing of this text caused a serious crisis within the CFCM with the departure of the rector of the great mosque of Paris from the negotiating table.

He then denounced the influence of an Islamist component within the body.

The leaders of the CFCM have therefore visibly reached an agreement, but this charter has not yet been definitively adopted.

The body is in fact made up of 9 different federations which will therefore each have to give their agreement before presenting the final text to Emmanuel Macron.

This will mark the end of the first stage of a restructuring of Islam in France desired by the executive, which should lead to the creation of a national council of imams.
