Pfizer's planned reorganization of production was not announced in the usual way.

Instead, Sweden's vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström found out when the information was included in the production planning and the number of doses in the coming week was significantly lower than previously stated.

- They were the ones who worked with the logistics who found out the information first.

It's a bit clumsy, so I have to mark.

If it was planned, we could have found out before, says Richard Bergström to SVT.

Pfizer plans to scale up the production rate significantly, to two billion doses per year from the previous 1.3 billion.

It is unclear exactly how long the upgrade of the facilities will take.

- It is limited in time.

In a way, it is good news that you increase production so much, says Bergström.

"Practical problem"

He understands that many regions are annoyed that they now have to change their vaccine planning for the coming week.

- It is a surprise and a break, it will be a practical problem for many who have planned to get the vaccine doses next week.

Exactly how many fewer doses there will be to European countries is not yet clear.

- If there are 25 percent fewer doses next week or a little more, we will be notified soon, says Richard Bergström.
