Chemnitz (AP) - The Niners Chemnitz celebrated their fourth win of the season on the 13th matchday of the basketball league.

The climber won on Friday against Telekom Baskets Bonn after extra time with 93:92 (84:84, 44:32).

The best thrower in the team of coach Rodrigo Pastore was Marcus Thornton with 25 points.

The game started out evenly.

Towards the end of the first quarter, the Niners were able to break away from 15:13 (8th minute) to 23:13 (10th).

At the beginning of the second section, the Chemnitz team expanded their lead to 18 points (31:13).

Especially from a distance, the Pastore team presented itself very accurately in this phase.

The Niners cleverly managed their lead until the end of the third quarter.

Whenever Bonn was able to shorten to ten points, the Saxons had the right answer ready, especially thanks to Thornton, George King or Terrell Harris, and each countered with a three-point throw.

In the final section, however, the Chemnitz people made mistakes.

The guests managed a 13-0 run, which gave Bonn the 71:70 lead in the 33rd minute.

In the exciting final phase of regular time, neither team managed the decisive victory throw.

In extra time, Telekom Baskets were initially ahead, before Thornton converted two free throws 14 seconds before the end to a 93-92 victory.
