Kiel (dpa / lno) - Last year, 3,804 asylum seekers came to Schleswig-Holstein, 379 fewer than in 2019. This is a decrease of nine percent.

As the State Office for Immigration and Refugees reported on Tuesday, the districts and urban districts registered 1382 children of parents who had previously entered the country and who were born in the previous year.

Adjusted for this number, immigration in 2020 was around 42 percent below that of the previous year.

Most of the people came from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan in the past year.

The state accommodations in Neumünster, Boostedt, Rendsburg and Bad Segeberg were 65 percent occupied on average over the year.

According to the State Office, 325 people left voluntarily throughout the year, 125 were deported and 72 were transferred using the so-called Dublin procedure.

That is around 58 percent less than in 2019. The decline was due to the corona pandemic, which made many trips impossible, said the state office.
