It was just before Christmas 2019 that Kjäll Gustafsson was killed in connection with what is believed to have been an attempted robbery against a restaurant in Gislaved when he tried to intervene.

Early in the autumn, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder, but was later released on bail as the evidence was not considered valid for continued detention.

According to the prosecutor, he was still a suspect at the time.

The man has always denied, and on Friday the prosecutor's office announced that he has now been completely removed from the investigation.

- Investigative measures taken have not strengthened the suspicions against the man.

It is therefore not possible to prove that he was involved in the act, says prosecutor Adam Rullman in a press release.

This means that the investigation has taken a big step backwards.

 - At present, there are no suspicions against any other person.

The police will now take over the management of the preliminary investigation, says chamber prosecutor Adam Rullman.
