Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - With works of art in public space, the Oldenburg City Museum wants to distract passers-by from everyday life and stimulate them to think through the end of February.

At the same time, the house wants to point out its imminent change, because construction work for the new building and modernization of the city museum will start in March.

"We are changing so that we want to have a strong relationship to the present," said the museum director Steffen Wiegmann on Friday about the future direction of the house.

The aim is to enable more social encounters and exchanges.

To say goodbye to the old city museum, artists show installations and a large mural on and in front of the house.

The artists' collective “The Hidden Art Project” and the wall designers “Die Jungs” are involved.

There is also something to discover in the building - those interested can see a 16-meter-long wooden spiral through the closed glass doors, which narrows in the direction of vision.

The object with the title "real or fake?"

should symbolize the way through time and the way of knowledge.

"You have to change perspectives in order to get an idea for yourself," said Wiegmann.

All works of art deal with the corona pandemic and are intended to invite the viewer to reflect on their own actions and to take a new perspective.
