Freiburg (dpa) - Trainer Christian Streich has defended football professionals from the Corona criticism of the hairdressing association.
"If I'm not mistaken, you can cut your own hair," said Streich on Friday, referring to his players at Bundesliga club SC Freiburg.
Friends or roommates of the professionals in shared apartments could also do this.
"A lot of these guys have these haircutting tools that only hairdressers used to have at home," explained Streich.
The players are “pretty firm” in drawing a straight line in their hairstyles and making themselves fashionable.
"I don't know what's wrong with that."
Hairdressers have been closed since December 16 as part of the corona lockdown.
Therefore, the Central Association of the German Hairdressing Trade recently expressed its displeasure with freshly coiffed football players.
You can see that they were styled by professionals, said Association President Harald Esser in an open letter to the German Football Association (DFB).
Streich explained that as a teenager he would have preferred to grow his hair "down to his bottom."
I was just not allowed by my parents when I was not yet of legal age. "
