China News Service, January 15th. According to Peru’s “Communiqué” on the 15th, the situation of the new crown epidemic in Peru is still not optimistic recently. The Minister of Health of the country issued a warning that if the people do not take and abide by the epidemic prevention measures seriously, the medical and health system It will collapse in the second wave of the epidemic; at the same time, the Peruvian economy may also suffer another setback in the epidemic.

"If the people do not follow the prevention and control measures

The medical system will collapse in the second wave of the epidemic"

On the 14th local time, Peruvian Minister of Health Massetti warned that if people do not take seriously and abide by the epidemic prevention and control measures, Peru's medical and health system will collapse in the second wave of the epidemic.

Masetti said that in order to balance the economic recovery and the health of the people, the government has adopted targeted restrictive measures.

But if the epidemic situation worsens, the government does not rule out adopting stricter restrictions.

Massetti also said that the public should strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control measures and act responsibly.

On the other hand, Massetti denied the shortage of critically ill beds in the capital Lima or other areas, and emphasized that the Ministry of Health is increasing critically ill beds to meet the needs of patients.

Regarding the recruitment of more medical staff, Massetti said that the government has allocated special funds for this purpose; in addition, the government is working hard to find better ways to enable all medical staff to have better working conditions.

Why is the risk level different between Lima Province and Lima City?

On the 13th local time, the Peruvian government announced new epidemic prevention regulations to respond to the second wave of epidemics. Among them, according to the progress of the epidemic in each region, the provinces and cities are divided into medium, high and extremely high risk levels.

At present, the alert risk in Lima province is "extremely high", while the capital city of Lima is only "high".

On the 14th local time, Massetti explained that the government classified the risk levels based on the death rate, infection rate and the response capacity of the medical system in each region.

The capital city of Lima contains one-third of the country’s population and two-thirds of the country’s COVID-19 patients, but at the same time, Lima has the most medical centers, medical oxygen and ventilators in Peru.

However, there are fewer medical centers in the whole province of Lima, medical resources are scarce, and the area is larger, making it more difficult to mobilize.

It is worth mentioning that from January 15 to January 31, the curfew in very high-risk areas, including Lima Province, is from 7 pm to 4 am the next day, and vehicles and people are restricted on Sundays.

In high-risk areas including the capital city of Lima, the curfew is from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., and vehicles are restricted on Sunday; in other medium-risk areas, the curfew lasts from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day. There is no restriction on the movement of vehicles and people on Sundays.

The second wave of the epidemic may further setback the Peruvian economy

On the 14th local time, Peru’s Minister of Economy and Finance Valdo Mendoza said that although Peru’s economic recovery is faster than expected, the second wave of the epidemic may set back the country’s economy again.

Mendoza pointed out that starting from October 2020, public and private investment has increased.

At present, Peru's economic recovery is much faster than the average level of neighboring countries and Latin America.

According to the new crown epidemic data released by the Ministry of Health of Peru on January 14, compared with the previous day, the country has 5,022 new confirmed cases of new crown (2621 new cases in the past 24 hours, and 2401 additional cases). The number increased to 1048662; 91 new deaths were registered, and the total number of deaths was 38564.

There are 7812 hospitalized cases, and a total of 976202 cases have recovered.
