St. Moritz (dpa) - Skeleton world champion Tina Hermann clinched her first win of the season at the World Cup in St. Moritz.

Despite a major mistake at the start of the first run when her sled slipped out of the inrun lane, she drove at the highest speed in the lower area of the long natural ice rink and then pushed past the leading Austrian Janine Flock in the second run.

In the end, the three-time WSV Königssee world champion had a 0.32 second lead over World Cup leader Flock after a track record of 1: 10.06 minutes in heavy snowfall on Friday.

Third was the Olympic runner-up Jacqueline Lölling from RSG Hochsauerland ahead of Hannah Neise from Winterberg.

The only natural ice rink in the world is rebuilt every year at the end of November by a team of specialists from 10,000 cubic meters of snow and 5,000 cubic meters of water over a length of 1,722 meters in just three weeks.

Therefore there are no track records, only season best times.
