Munich (dpa / lby) - The Protestant Church recommends its worshipers in Bavaria to wear an FFP2 mask - but there is no obligation.

The regional bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (ELKB) informed the parishes accordingly on Friday, said a spokesman for the German Press Agency: “It should be an urgent recommendation, but not an obligation, because the visitors to the services are sitting far enough apart in accordance with the existing hygiene concepts. "

Normal mouth and nose covers should be sufficient as before.

From this Monday (January 18) on, users of buses or trains and customers in retail stores in the Free State must wear special particle-filtering face masks.

This measure is not without controversy, experts had expressed concerns.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) had already expressed reluctance to the use of the special masks by private individuals.

Unlike the first lockdown in spring, the religious communities in Germany can still come together for church services - however, regulations on infection protection apply.

It is not allowed to sing together and only a certain number of participants are allowed into the house of God.
