Mannheim (dpa) - The Association for Energy Trading Südwest-Mitte (VEH) expects heating oil prices to move in a corridor of 55 to 60 euros per 100 liters in the coming months.

That said VEH managing director Hans-Jürgen Funke on Friday in Mannheim.

With the nationwide CO2 tax that has been in force since January, prices have risen slightly.

"Overall, however, heating oil is still available for a really cheap price," he added.

In view of the pandemic-related uncertainties for the global economy, long-term forecasts are difficult to make.

Last year, in the first half of the year alone, customers ordered around 25 percent more heating oil compared to the same period in 2019.

Because of the global economic slump due to the corona pandemic, the demand for crude oil and the price of heating oil fell.

The drop in prices resulted in full order books for dealers.

Because the customers' tanks are still well filled, sales are expected to be lower this year.

According to its own information, VEH represents around 400 energy traders in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Baden-Württemberg and Thuringia.
