The companies topped the list of environmental violations in the wild areas of the Eastern Province.

According to the Sharjah Environment and Nature Reserves Authority, companies committed 47 violations last year, compared to 29 individual violations.

The head of the authority, here Saif Al-Suwaidi, confirmed that several irresponsible companies have registered violations of land areas in aggressive ways.

Violations included dumping, burying, storing, or disposing of hazardous waste in a way harmful to the environment, polluting wilderness areas, disturbing the health security of the individual and society, razing the soil, destroying vegetation, and disposing of construction and demolition waste in wilderness areas, adding that the authority has fined the parties The fine is 50 thousand dirhams, in addition to the fine for disposing of the waste of technical and production processes in land areas, amounting to 50 thousand dirhams.

Al-Suwaidi stated that the law specified activities that violate the provisions of federal and local legislation governing the protection of the environment, which would harm the natural order of the environments of the wild areas, and negatively affect its users and residents.

She emphasized that the control teams carry out campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness of the need to preserve the environment, calling on land-goers to know how to dispose of charcoal after barbecues, and to maintain the cleanliness of the place to avoid financial fines, pointing to the monitoring of four repeated violations, which include razing the soil and damaging the vegetation. And cutting durable and non-durable trees, trees of national and environmental importance, for the purpose of logging, and fine violators of 10 thousand dirhams for each of them.

It called for continuing work to protect plants from tampering, and to preserve them within their environments, as they are a national treasure.

She said that the authority works to preserve plants by multiplying them and replanting them in their natural habitats, in addition to implementing strict laws to preserve them from damage.

Al-Suwaidi also confirmed that the authority will not hesitate to violate those who leave their animals grazing unfair grazing, or leaving them loose without a shepherd, as well as the vehicles that pass randomly in the growth sites of herbs and plants.

The Kalba municipality has set the steps for proper handling of barbecue waste, which is not to set fires directly on the desert sands, and to make sure to use the fireplace designated for this, in order to prevent damage to the sand of wild sites and change their colors to black in many sites as a result of leaving the remains of charcoal there, and to avoid the suffering of workers Hygiene in removing such type of waste which is difficult to collect quickly.

She pointed to the distribution of 10 large containers dedicated to food waste, 14 containers for charcoal, and 43 small containers for recycled ones.

The municipality also distributed garbage bags to tents in the area, to dispose of barbecue waste in the temporary camping sites in Al-Ghail.

The challenges facing the authority are the destruction of natural habitats, which leads to the decline of wild plants, due to urban encroachment, the encroachment upon which plants are exposed through land trips and overgrazing, and other environmentally unfriendly practices, such as the illegal cutting of trees for the purpose of logging.
