According to the police, the roof of a house in Wanzleben had burned.
The fire was quickly brought under control.
Since the police had been called to an operation in the immediate vicinity the previous evening, the officials suspected a connection.
The 43-year-old is said to have set a piece of clothing on fire in his ex-partner's apartment.
When the emergency services pointed out the incident to the residents of the deleted house, they said that the man had been with them late Thursday evening and had borrowed a bike.
The officers then checked the apartment building in which the 43-year-old's ex-girlfriend lived. When the police checked the attic, they discovered another fire. The scene of the fire could be extinguished quickly with an on-board fire extinguisher. After the search for the suspect, he reported to the police in Wanzleben on Friday morning and was temporarily arrested.
