"The Ministry of Defense has agreed to provide up to 25,000 troops to support security during the inauguration of the president-elect," the National Guard's press service posted on Twitter in a release.

The @DeptofDefense has agreed to provide up to 25,000 service members to support the Presidential Inauguration National Special Security Event federal law enforcement mission and security preparations, as led by the @SecretService.

It is noted that the National Guard will provide assistance to the US Secret Service, which is responsible for security at the event.

Earlier it was reported that more than 20 thousand National Guard fighters will be involved in law enforcement in Washington.
