Wolfsburg (dpa) - VW works council chief Bernd Osterloh has tested positive for the corona virus and has gone into quarantine.

So far, the 64-year-old has shown no symptoms, it said on Thursday from the Group's employee representatives in Wolfsburg.

He is fine.

"But of course you have to wait and see what happens, and I take that seriously," Osterloh explained.

He is now working from home for the time being.

Important upcoming dates should not be in danger.

After a first quick test on Wednesday morning before the first round of talks on the new company tariff at Volkswagen, a subsequent PCR test at Osterloh brought certainty.

Where and when exactly the infection occurred is unclear, according to the works council.

The company's health service and the Wolfsburg health department went through further close contacts from Osterloh in the past few days. As a precaution, the people in question were also working at home, and several would be tested. So far, however, no subsequent infections are known.
