The ministry said the subordinate Bureau of Industry and Security has introduced new controls over technology and some specific "activities of US citizens" that may work in favor of military intelligence services of other countries, including countries, which Washington has designated as sponsors of terrorism.

In addition, the bureau is strengthening its control to ensure that the American side does not contribute to unauthorized programs to create weapons of mass destruction and delivery vehicles for such weapons.

US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross noted that the US "cannot allow foreign military intelligence organizations" of the country's opponents to use American technologies or services "to support their destabilizing activities."

Among those falling under the new control measures are the military intelligence and counterintelligence of Cuba, the intelligence services of China, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria and Venezuela.

Similar measures were announced by the United States back in December, when the Commerce Department published a list of more than 100 Russian and Chinese companies in respect of which export restrictions will be imposed.
