Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony's student council has welcomed the discussion about the form of the final exams this year.

The Ministry of Education should not wait too long to adjust the exams, said chairman Florian Reetz on Thursday.

Changing the subject matter or switching to decentralized exams is hardly possible anymore.

The state could, however, give the schools more options in the design of the exams with a “final exam puzzle”.

"The teachers know best what their students have missed or not," said Reetz.

Alternatively, the average grade can be used for the degree.

Last spring, the student council had expressly requested this procedure.

This is different this year because the content of the learning material has already been adjusted.

It is important that the status of the exams is retained.

"We do not want that the Lower Saxony Abi is pre-loaded," said Reetz.

For a final positioning, the student council wants to exchange ideas with other students and teachers in order to better understand the demand of the school management association to cancel the exams.

Often there is no solution to the problems of an individual school or class according to the scheme, stressed Reetz.
