Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein makes it easier for seniors to access appointments for vaccinations of old people against the coronavirus.

According to this, over 220,000 people aged 80 and over should be able to register by telephone without time pressure and have their personal appointment at a vaccination center.

Health Minister Heiner Garg presented this addition to the existing registration system to the Landtag's social committee on Thursday.

The seniors are to receive an information letter with a personal access code and a telephone number from January 28th.

The first date that can be booked in this way should be February 8th.

The ministry is reacting to severe displeasure and massive criticism of the previous registration system.

Most recently, the appointments received via the Internet (www.impfen-sh.de) and by telephone (116 117 and 0800 455 6550) were fully booked after a few minutes.

This caused disappointment and frustration among older people eligible for vaccination.

He could understand this well, said Garg.

It is necessary to enable senior citizens to make appointments more conveniently.

In future, you would no longer have to submit to the weekly stress of making appointments.
