Cologne (dpa) - A recalcitrant mask refuser rioted at the police station in Cologne Central Station and spat on officials.

According to the Federal Police on Thursday, police officers had expelled the 25-year-old because they had met him for the second time without a mask in the train station after receiving a warning.

When the man showed up again shortly afterwards without mouth and nose protection, the officers wanted to take him to the office.

Then the Mönchengladbacher clenched his fists, according to the information, kicked the police several times and spat at them.

He also said he did not rest on the guard and destroyed a mattress.

After the incident on Wednesday morning, he was taken into custody for the rest of the day.

The man is now being investigated for resistance to officials and property damage.
