The politician, who represents the Sweden Democrats, visited one of Gyllene Tider's concerts at Brottet in Halmstad in 2019. After that, he reported the jewelery he had lost to the police and asked his insurance company to receive almost SEK 17,000 in compensation, there was no receipt for the jewelery.

When the insurance company requested a picture of the jewelry, the politician sent in one.

- When the insurance company took a closer look at the picture and its metadata, it was found that the picture was taken after the jewelry was reported missing, says Claes Björnerhag, head of preliminary investigations at the police.

"The evidence is strong"

The police investigators have also taken a closer look at the picture and come to the same conclusion as the insurance company.

The politician is now being prosecuted for attempted fraud at Halmstad District Court.

- I judge that the evidence is strong and holds for a conviction, says Claes Björnerhag.

The politician denies the crime in police interrogation.

The party requests a time-out

Stefan Jägnert is the district chairman of the Sweden Democrats in Halland.

- This was completely new to me and nothing I know.

If it is as you say, I will request that the person take a time out and then we will see what the outcome will be.

If the person is convicted, we will demand that they resign from their assignments, says Stefan Jägnert on Thursday to SVT Nyheter Halland.

Politician: "Absolutely wrong"

SVT has repeatedly sought the accused politician, without result.

To Hallandsposten, who was the first to reveal the criminal suspicion, the politician says this:

- It is completely wrong, there has been a misunderstanding between two different parties.

I will call the insurance company again because they are the ones who will withdraw this.
