Roth (dpa / lby) - A 57-year-old woman and a 25-year-old have allegedly suffered carbon monoxide poisoning in their house in Pfaffenhofen (Roth district).

The woman is still in mortal danger, the police said on Thursday.

In the early evening, her 61-year-old husband found the woman and his 25-year-old son passed out in the living room.

He dialed 911 and took them outside.

The fire brigade found that the carbon monoxide level in the family home was extremely high.

According to the current status, a defective heating was responsible for this, it said.

The investigation was still ongoing.

This week there had already been two emergencies in Bavaria in which carbon monoxide poisoning is assumed - both were fatal:

A 52-year-old man died in Altomünster (Dachau district) after CO poisoning from a self-assembled gas thermal bath.

His 46-year-old partner, who found him lifeless in the shared apartment, was seriously injured in a clinic, as the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North announced on Tuesday.

A 68-year-old woman probably died of carbon monoxide poisoning in her home in Gemünden (Main-Spessart district).

Her husband was taken to a clinic, the police said on Tuesday evening.

The couple's son found his parents motionless on Tuesday afternoon in the bedroom of their apartment on the ground floor and dialed the emergency number.

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that prevents the transport of oxygen through the blood and so often leads to death in a short time.
