Würzburg (dpa / lby) - After four points from the last two games, the Würzburg Kickers are aiming for the third win of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga.

If they succeed on Friday (6.30 p.m.) against third-bottom Eintracht Braunschweig, the Lower Franconians would be placed in the race for the relegation rank again.

"Everyone is aware that the situation has not changed drastically," said newcomer Christian Strohdiek and emphasized the importance of the 3-2 win against Osnabrück, "but the three points were very relieving for the head and the soul."

Of five games against fellow promoted Braunschweig in professional football, the Kickers lost only one at home - the first in the DFB Cup.

In the four other duels there were two wins and two draws at home.

"I think that we got back into the heads of the other teams because of the win in Osnabrück," said Strohdiek, who was relegated to the 2nd division with SC Paderborn last season.

Back then, a lot of effort and points also achieved a “wow effect”.

Then the opponent sees that you are not giving up, said the defender.

"That can now also set us apart."

The new winter additions in particular give momentum.

At 3-2 in Osnabrück, Marvin Pieringer scored twice.

"It would be nice if the knot was now broken," said the attacker.
