The Liv Vet app was launched last November -

Liv Vet

  • The Liv'Vet application allows veterinarians to perform remote consultations.

  • Saving time for practitioners and owners, but also a way to avoid stress for animals that sometimes goes to a veterinarian.

  • The app is free for the owner, who pays nothing more than the consultation.

During the first confinement, the Ministry of Agriculture authorized veterinarians to experiment, until the end of 2021, with remote consultations.

Developed for two years and launched in November by Jean-François Audrin, veterinarian in Hérault, the virtual platform Liv'Vet, supported by the incubator Bic, in Montpellier, has the ambition to democratize this nascent practice, already adopted by human medicine.

For the creator of the application, remote consultations are a real time saver for the owner, who does not come to the clinic, and for the practitioner.

But it's also less of a hassle for the animals.

“More than half of the cats are not medicalized, because the owners are afraid to bring their animal to the veterinarian, for fear of the stress that this can generate, notes Jean-François Audrin.

And for dogs, sometimes a little aggressive due to stress, consultations can be complicated.

"

"Manage emergencies which often are not"

It is also, continues the Hérault veterinarian, a way of managing minor ailments, which, sometimes, can be treated directly at home, with a little rest or medication, without the need to transport the animal to to a veterinarian: Liv'Vet is thus an "asset for effectively managing emergencies which often are not", explains a veterinarian from Bouches-du-Rhône, who works in one of the first sixty clinics which adopted the Montpellier application.

But how does it work ?

Once the vet is registered, owners can book an appointment on the platform.

“A quarter of an hour before, the owner is warned by an SMS, he clicks on a link and enters a virtual waiting room,” says Jean-François Audrin.

The consultation takes place on video, and, if there is any manipulation to be done on the animal, small tutorials appear on the screen.

At the end of the examination, the owner receives a report, as well as a possible prescription for medication.

Payment is made online.

We pay nothing more than the consultation: for the owner, the use of the platform is free.
