The year 2020 witnessed intense monitoring activity by inspectors of the food safety sector on restaurants and food establishments in various parts of the emirate, to ensure that they adhere to all safety and public health requirements, standards and procedures, despite the precautionary measures and measures that the country experienced as a result of the outbreak of the "Covid-19" pandemic.

The control campaigns took measures to close the criminal establishments against the violating establishments, before the end of the first quarter of last year, with the decision to close three branches of the "House of Al Khairat Foodstuff Trade" facility in the Al Dhafra region, for a period of 15 days (from March 15 to April 1), as a result of non-compliance The facility applied the standards and requirements of food health and safety, as it repeatedly monitored the presence of expired food items offered for sale or stored in the foodstuff store, in addition to the presence of other foodstuffs that were rotten and unfit for human consumption, which constituted a high-risk situation for public health and the level of food safety.

At the end of last May, “Fotia Restaurant” was closed for about 17 days (from May 31 to June 17), for violating Law No. (2) of 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the legislation issued thereunder, because of its danger to public health, after the inspection staff found out Failure of the establishment to apply health and food safety standards and requirements and failure to maintain the health level of the facility, which may affect the level of food safety and consumer health.

Authority inspectors closed the "Pasha Misr" restaurant in Abu Dhabi for a period of six days (from September 24 to September 30) due to its danger to public health, as a result of repeated numerous violations of food health and safety requirements, including storing foodstuffs on the floor, and not cleaning the kitchen and equipment from dirt. Accumulated, lack of maintenance of shelves of refrigerators and freezers from rust, leaving hot food cooked at room temperature, and the presence of ready-to-eat foods uncovered, in addition to the absence of a food label for foodstuffs (ground meat and ribs), and other irregularities.

On the fifth of last November, the "Al-Mad Al-Hale" restaurant in Abu Dhabi was closed for 34 days (from the fifth of November to the ninth of December), due to its danger to public health, as a result of repeated many violations related to health and food safety requirements, including monitoring the presence of insects in the kitchen Preserving foodstuffs at an inappropriate temperature, incorrect defrosting of foodstuffs, poor cleanliness of the facility, and failure to maintain the roof, as there are openings that allow the entry of insects, and other irregularities.

In addition, the "Flexi" restaurant in Abu Dhabi was closed for nine days (from November 16 to November 25) due to its danger to public health, as a result of repeated violations of food health and safety requirements, which have a direct impact on the safety and health of the consumer, despite the successive inspection of the facility. The observations of the inspectors were not responded to.

Whereas, the “Body Tea” cafeteria in Abu Dhabi was closed for seven days (from December 16 to December 23) due to its danger to public health, as a result of the facility’s failure to implement food safety requirements. The inspectors issued four violations against the facility for reasons related to the low level of hygiene in the handling areas. And food preservation, and despite the succession of inspecting the facility, the inspectors' observations were not responded to.

One day before the end of 2020, the authority inspectors closed the "Special Dinar" restaurant in Mussafah in Abu Dhabi, on December 30, claiming that it is dangerous to public health, as a result of the facility's failure to implement food safety requirements. The inspectors issued three violations and a warning of administrative closure against the facility for reasons. These are related to the low level of hygiene in the areas of handling and preserving food, and despite the succession of inspections, the establishment official did not commit to correcting repeated violations, which affected food safety and consumer health.

The period from mid-June to the beginning of last September witnessed supervisory stability, which led to the failure to take any measures to penalize any food establishment, until the "Misk Super Market" facility in Al-Ain was closed on the eighth of September, due to its danger to public health, and the practice of food activity (complex Consumer) without issuing a no-objection certificate, as the law requires food establishments to obtain a non-objection certificate to practice the activity from the authority, in order for them to apply food safety requirements to them, and to ensure the safety of all foodstuffs and not expose them to the risk of pollution and threaten the health of consumers.

Whereas, the "Al-Nawara" cafeteria in Al-Ain was closed on September 27, due to its danger to public health, as a result of the facility exercising grocery activities without obtaining a no-objection certificate, in violation of the laws and legislation issued by the authority, which allows it to apply food safety requirements to it, and to ensure the safety All foodstuffs do not expose them to any risk of contamination or threaten the health of consumers.

24 hour closing

The beginning of October recorded the fastest amendment to the closure violation against a food establishment, which took only one day, as the authority decided to close the "King of Karak" cafeteria in Abu Dhabi, on the seventh of last October, claiming that it is dangerous to public health, as a result of repeated many violations related to the requirements Food health and safety, including poor facility cleanliness in general, poor cleaning of cutting equipment, lack of a separate wash for food, monitoring the presence of insects in the preparation area, lack of maintenance of internal shelves in the kitchen, and other irregularities, which were corrected by the facility, to return to To start its activity only 24 hours after the closure.

The closure took place for periods ranging between 24 hours and 34 days.
