Munich (AP) - The Champions League could get a new look, according to Bayern Munich's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

As the 65-year-old said on Wednesday evening at fcb.tv, the European Football Association (UEFA) is considering a “Week of Football”.

Based on the final tournament in Lisbon last summer, both semi-finals and the final could be held in just one city.

They want to go "a bit like the Super Bowl" in the USA.

"That sounds good in my opinion," said Rummenigge.

A Champions League final tournament was held in Portugal's capital last year due to the corona.

Rummenigge described this as the "greatest thrill".

Only knockout games were played from the quarter-finals in Lisbon.

In the end, FC Bayern was crowned the winner.

Rummenigge currently sees the group stage in the premier class as a problem.

This is beginning to “get a bit boring,” said the Munich CEO.

He heard from UEFA circles that there was a discussion about making the group stage more attractive.

He didn't give any details.

FC Bayern, for example, secured early qualification for the round of 16 as group winners on matchday four this season.
