Munich (dpa / lby) - The pandemic officer of the Klinikum rechts der Isar in Munich considers the obligation to wear an FFP2 mask to be problematic.

"I take a very critical view of the use of FFP2 masks in public, especially because they result in significantly increased breathing resistance and wearing them requires appropriate training," explained Christoph Spinner.

Starting next Monday, wearing an FFP2 mask is mandatory in retail and local public transport in Bavaria.

The cabinet made a corresponding decision on Tuesday.

FFP2 masks are intended to reduce the risk of infection with the coronavirus.

"So that they offer additional protection, they have to be worn tightly, which the majority of users can barely manage with normal masks," the senior infectious surgeon warned. "So I don't promise myself any additional protection."
