Official data showed that most of the new cases were recorded near the capital, Beijing, but a far northeastern region also witnessed a rise in cases in light of the virus's return to spread, which led to the imposition of home quarantine on more than 28 million people.

Today, Wednesday, the National Health Committee announced the registration of 115 new confirmed cases of the virus on the mainland, up from 55 the previous day, in the highest daily increase since July 30.

She added that 107 of the new infections were local infections.

Hebei Province, which surrounds the capital, recorded 90 cases, while the northeastern Heilongjiang Province recorded 16 new cases.

Hebei province imposed a general isolation on three cities, namely Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and Langfang, while the Beijing authorities have stepped up examination measures and prevent the spread of the virus.

Wang Bin, an official with the National Health Commission, said today, Wednesday, that the country has used more than ten million vaccine doses to vaccinate citizens and has stepped up testing capacity to include 12.55 million people per day, ten times what it was in last March.

Today, Heilongjiang declared a state of emergency due to the spread of COVID-19.

And the city of Suihua, in the province, imposed a general isolation of 5.2 million people.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases on the Chinese mainland reached 87,706, while the number of deaths remained 4,634 unchanged.
