At least 5 Syrian soldiers and 11 fighters of pro-Iranian factions were killed in raids launched at dawn today, Wednesday, by Israeli occupation army aircraft on weapons stores and military sites in eastern Syria, according to what the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The observatory said, "The Israeli Air Force launched more than 18 air strikes, in the area extending from the city of Deir Ezzor to the Syrian-Iraqi border in the Albu Kamal desert."

The Observatory pointed out that the raids resulted in the destruction of weapons depots, noting that the targeted sites are where the militia of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Lebanese Hezbollah and "Fatemiyoun" are stationed, and that these militias take from these sites centers for training and preparing fighters.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said today, Wednesday, that "Israeli aggression targeted areas in Deir Ezzor and Albu Kamal," the agency did not give further details.

There was no immediate Israeli comment on what "SANA" reported.

Years ago, Israel launched hundreds of raids on sites of the Syrian regime forces and military bases belonging to Iran and its militias, as Israel says it wants to prevent Iran from establishing its military presence in Syria.

In a rare report, the Israeli occupation army said two weeks ago that, during the year 2020, it had bombed about 50 targets in Syria.

The war in Syria has killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions of others since 2011.
