During the night towards Wednesday Swedish time, the House of Representatives will vote to request that Vice President Mike Pence invoke the 25th amendment that would take away Trump's presidential power if it is implemented.

Unlikely, SVT's correspondent Stefan Åsberg thinks:

- According to information, Trump and Pence had a good meeting yesterday, so I do not think it will be possible to pursue such a goal.

But Trump is also threatened by a new Supreme Court process, which the House of Representatives will vote on on Wednesday.

Hard to oust Trump

If a majority in the House of Representatives votes in favor of the Supreme Court, the matter will be taken to the Senate.

In order to then actually be able to remove the president, a two-thirds majority in the senate is required.

But according to SVT's US correspondent Stefan Åsberg, the risk of Trump being convicted is small.

- There is so little time left.

The Senate has no regular meeting until January 19 and it is a day before Trump resigns, it is unlikely that they will move the meeting forward.

On the other hand, says Stefan Åsberg, it is possible that a Supreme Court trial against Trump will begin after he has resigned.

- It is not impossible to start a process afterwards.

That may be what they are looking for now to block him from running in the 2024 election.

"The same old Trump"

On Tuesday afternoon, Trump made his first statements since last week's unrest in Washington DC in connection with his departure to Texas, where he will, among other things, visit the border wall.

During the brief press conference, Donald Trump called the threat of nationalism a "continuation of the witch hunt" and said that it causes "a great deal of anger" while emphasizing that he does not want to see any violence.

- When he went out to the helicopter today, he talked about how ridiculous the accusations are.

It was the same old Trump we heard.

There was not much difference compared to last week's events, says Stefan Åsberg.

Will speak in Texas

At 21.00 Swedish time, Donald Trump will make an appearance in Alamo, Texas.

- He probably wants to get away from Washington and all the accusations against him there.

He wants to point out the wall and what he has achieved in that matter.

I think we will hear about the same things as earlier today, that there is a witch hunt going on against him and so on.
