  • Government Fernando Grande-Marlaska, irritated with Margarita Robles for deploying the UME in Madrid without going through Interior

The

Government of Castilla-La Mancha

, chaired by the socialist Emiliano García-Page, will open a process to collect information among employers, unions, the third sector, municipalities and councils regarding the damage caused by the storm Filomena and, depending on the data, the possibility of requesting the central government to declare a catastrophic zone will be considered.

This is how the Minister of Development,

Nacho Hernando

,

spoke on Tuesday

to questions from journalists at a press conference about the PP's request to request said statement.

Hernando explained that, depending on the "objective data" collected, the possibility of forwarding this information to the

Ministry of the Interior will

be raised or not

, which is the one who decides whether or not the declaration of a catastrophic zone is feasible.

And he added: "The declaration itself is not important, but determining what material damage has occurred so that there can be compensation for those people."

The

Community of Madrid

has raised this weekend the possibility of requesting the declaration of an area especially affected by the storm Filomena to the Government, and the Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, responded this Monday that before considering this declaration, the damages, causes and extent of the effects of the storm.

This Tuesday, the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has assured that she will support any mayor "of any municipality and of any political sign" who requests the declaration of a catastrophic zone, as the mayor of the capital has also opened to do so, José Luis Martínez-Almeida.

On the other hand, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha has requested the

General State Administration to

send resources to reinforce the work of the emergency teams in different municipalities of

Toledo, Guadalajara and Albacete

, to deal with snowfall and frosts that are occurring in the region.

Action of the Mechanized Infantry

In a press release, the regional government has reported that this Tuesday the

Advisory Committee of the Specific Plan against the Risk due to Adverse Meteorological Phenomena of Castilla-La Mancha

(Meteocam) has met, to assess the current situation in the region, which it has "specific incidents" both in the road network and in the electricity supply.

The regional government has also asked citizens to exercise caution when going out onto the street or traveling on the road before the appearance of ice sheets due to the drop in temperatures, which will continue in the coming days.

Toledo City Council sources have indicated to Efe that the

'Guzmán el Bueno' Mechanized Infantry Brigade

, which has deployed 122 soldiers and several vehicles to carry out cleaning tasks, continues to clear, by hand, the snow and ice from the streets of the Historic Quarter that cannot be accessed by snow plows.
