Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Eintracht Frankfurt can look forward to the return of striker Luka Jovic.

The move of the Serbian striker from Real Madrid to Main was "almost dry," said sports director Fredi Bobic.

«Luka Jovic is about to loan us until the summer.

We still have to work on a few topics, the medical check for example.

If everything fits, he'll be back with us soon, ”said Bobic in an interview with Sky before the Hessian Bundesliga team's DFB Cup match at Bayer Leverkusen.

Spanish and Serbian media had previously reported about the upcoming transfer.

The 23-year-old attacker moved from Main to Spain in 2019 for a transfer of around 60 million euros, but never played a major role for coach Zinedine Zidane.

Jovic's contract with Real runs until 2025, due to his high salary in Madrid, a commitment has so far been difficult.

After Bas Dost left for FC Bruges during the winter break, Eintracht was looking for an attacker, as only the Portuguese André Silva coach Adi Hütter is available.

This news should cause a lot of joy among Eintracht fans.

In the 2018/19 season, Jovic formed the so-called "buffalo herd" of Frankfurt together with his team-mates Sébastien Haller and Ante Rebić.

Jovic scored 17 Bundesliga goals in that season.

He could also imagine "that Luka would not mind playing in Frankfurt again," said Hütter recently.

Bayern Munich's talented striker Joshua Zirkzee was also considered a candidate, but this should be invalid with the upcoming Jovic commitment.

Hütter now has another "strong option," said Bobic.
