The team of coach Lukas Kwasniok won the catch-up game at 1. FC Magdeburg on Tuesday evening with 2: 1 (1: 1).
The promoted team had not had a three-point in seven games.
Striker Sebastian Jacob scored for the Saarlanders in the 4th minute with a penalty and in the 57th minute with a header.
Saliou Sané (45th) also managed to compensate for the relegation candidate with a penalty kick.
The guests were lucky in the end, as Nico Granatowski missed a great chance for Magdeburg (84th).
Saarbrücken improved to fifth place in the table.
